What to expect? Summer SAT Prep Class We'll meet Monday - Thursday, 2 hours a day. Expect another hour of homework each night. Week one is for Math, and week two is for Reading. If you wish to only work on one section, please look at the class listings that have the week you want. I am excited to be teaching this course alongside Leeann Theiss from Providence School of Jacksonville. Leeann has been tutoring the SAT for decades, and we taught together at Winter Springs High School in Florida! We will teach students strategies that work for most students and cover subject matter as needed. We only use Official College Board tests, not other companies' tests. We will have a virtual white board with the tests displayed so students can see what we're writing. We have an additional camera so we can see the students and they can see us as we work. Yes, we want cameras ON. We can interpret learning through facial reactions better than just words. Students don’t have to speak up to communicate, but it will help. We do not want to put students on the spot, but we encourage interaction. Homework - Students will be given about an hour of homework each day. Students NEED to practice in order to learn the test. I can't stress this enough! Supplies - We will use downloadable tests that the College Board has published. The test we will work with are on the College Board website, but we will also email them to you. There is no need to print them any more as the test is now digital, but you can print them if you would like. Students NEED a spiral notebook or folder with paper to keep all their notes together in one place. I highly recommend using a laptop or other large screen for class. Using a phone limits how much a student can participate in class. I also recommend headphones as they help cut out distracting noises. PLEASE set up ZOOM before class day. We use the SAME link every day. You do not need a password. Bring a friend! The class needs to have a minimum of 10 people. If you know someone who would benefit, please invite them. If your referral takes the class, we will give you a $15 rebate. If you invite enough friends, your class could be free, and you get to work with your friends!
